Dubai: The extension of the Dubai Creek, part of Dubai Properties' Business Bay project, is progressing rapidly and 3.2 kilometres of work has been completed so far.
Work on Business Bay is progressing on schedule and developers have started approaching Dubai Properties for land possession.
Deyaar, which has two plots in the development, is one of the first developers to start construction.
Work on Doha Road and Oud Metha Road have also started in line with the master plan of the 64 million square foot development.
Hashim Al Dabal, chief executive of Dubai Properties, said, "Developers who have invested in the project and in us have started to take possession of their plots and we will soon see a lot of construction activity taking place at the site in the coming months."
Safety award
The Business Bay Creek extension project was awarded recently the Five-Star Award for Safety, the highest category of the award designed by Dutco Balfour Beatty Group.
The award was presented to Dubai Properties following an internal audit conducted by the Group Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Department.
Steven Vyver, group HSE manager for the Dutco Group, said, "It reflects the high safety and security measurements implemented at the site. "
Al Dabal said the vision of Business Bay is to outshine the world's most prominent cities in terms of infrastructure, design, urban planning, architecture and perfect environmental balance.
In this respect special measures have been put in place to safeguard the ecosystem of the surrounding environment.
Dubai Properties is also in the process of submitting a full Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) to Dubai Municipality for the Business Bay this month.
