Dubai: The cost of doing business in facilities management is going to fall drastically with enterprise resource planning (ERP) entering the sector, which a top official said will help reduce the service charges in freehold areas as well as public facilities.
"With enterprise resource planning, we could reduce our costs heavily. That could help us pass on the benefits to our customers," Tariq Chauhan, group managing director of EFS Facilities Services, said.
"With so many properties being delivered, facilities management is becoming a major area of concentration."
UAE-based EFS Facilities Services signed an agreement with Oracle to implement their Oracle JD Edwards Enterprise application modules for their operations in the Middle East.
EFS will look to pioneer technology by implementing an integrated ERP to cater to the facilities management (FM) industry by seeking business value from next-generation IT applications.
Oracle is one of the top four in the Magic Quadrant of Integrated Systems. EFS' new Business Application System will consist of iWMS (Integrated Workplace Management Systems), CAFM (Computer Aided Facility Management) and ERP, which aims to boost productivity, achieve efficiency and reduce costs though intelligent business processes.
EFS currently manages 100 projects worth more than Dh1 billion, and employs over 1,000 FM professionals.
The company's regional success has helped to attract and retain a talent pool with diverse cultures, ethnicities and experience to ensure the ideal balance of global and local knowledge.
