Dubai: Bawadi, a member of Tatweer and the world's largest hospitality and retail destination, on Wednesday unveiled its massive infrastructure and internal transportation master plans for the Dh200 billion milestone development.

According to the master plan, the 10-kilometre hospitality boulevard will be divided into five geographic areas, reflecting unique connectivity features that will link its intricate transportation network with the building interfaces.

Among the other distinctive components within the development, a state-of-the-art commuting system, comprising a pedestrian network and monopod vehicles, will match the luxury destination's offerings. The well-defined infrastructure and transportation master plans are projected to shape Bawadi into an unrivalled world class destination.

Bawadi is working with the structural engineering, design and architecture company W.S Atkins as its master-plan consultant, while Africon, the multidisciplinary professional service provider in engineering and infrastructure-related development, has been mandated as the project's traffic consultants.

World leaders in planning, engineering and programme, as well as in construction management, Parsons & Brinkerhoff is Bawadi's infrastructure project manager. Montgomery Watson Harza, specialists in sustainable environmental, and energy services, is the environmental consultant for the landmark development.

Arif Mubarak, chief executive officer, Bawadi, said: "Bawadi places high priority on the project design and planning process to include contemporary elements of a modern destination. We look forward to creating awareness on the projects taking shape at the iconic development, which will boast one of the largest concentrations of leading hotels on a 10-kilometre boulevard. It will further drive Dubai's mandate to become the world's leading leisure and retail destination by 2015."

With 51 uniquely designed hotels, ranging from three-five star ranking, the Bawadi development will offer more than 60,000 rooms. It will also include the biggest retail area at 40 million gross leasable area in the world, which translates into four times the size of the current retail space in Dubai.
