Eight firms sign up to distribute ThurayaIP

Dubai: Thuraya, the satellite telecom service provider has signed up eight distribution agreements for its newly launched ThurayaIP solution.

As a portable satellite-based solution, ThurayaIP is among the world's smallest and fastest broadband terminals in its category. With an A-5 compact size, a superior video streaming capability and speed of 444 kbps (kilobit per second), the product is commercially making headway in satellite broadband market.

The eight service providers signing up as Thuraya's partners in marketing and distributing the new product are Fort Info Technology, GPTC, IEC, Indigo Airtime Ltd, NSSL, Satcom Group, Xsat Fze and Xtra-Link. These distributors have established networks and extensive expertise in telecom retail. They will cover all of Thuraya's markets spanning Europe and Africa to the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

"The quick roll-out of almost the whole first batch of ThurayaIP was largely anticipated, due to market need and the overall quality of the product, all in size, performance and pricing aspects. The distribution chain has been upbeat and excited for its launch, which is driving the marketing momentum" said Thuraya's CEO Yousuf Al Sayed.

He also added that more distribution agreements would be signed in the near future providing ample channels for retailing ThurayaIP to the end customers.
