More flights between UAE, Qatar

Dubai: The UAE, represented by the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar to increase the number of flights between the two countries.

According to the MoU, FlyDubai was appointed as a UAE national carrier along with Emirates, Etihad, Air Arabia and RAK Air, while Qatar Airways was appointed Qatar's national carrier. The MoU provides for an unlimited number of scheduled and unscheduled flights between Dubai and Qatar, 42 scheduled flights between Abu Dhabi and Doha, 10 scheduled flights between Sharjah and Doha and seven scheduled flights between Ras Al Khaimah and Qatar.

Cargo flights

The two sides may operate cargo scheduled flights of any aircraft, said the MoU. The signing ceremony was attended by Dubai's Department of Civil Aviation director-general Mohammad Al Ahli, Sharjah's Department of Civil Aviation chairman Shaikh Essam Al Qasimi, Ras Al Khaimah Department of Civil Aviation director-general Saeed Al Madhani and Galib Al Soloh, head of international affairs at the Abu Dhabi Department of Transport.
