Curated by Dr Omar Kholeif, Director of Collections and Senior Curator, Sharjah Art Foundation, ‘In the Heart of Another Country’ showcases over 60 artists representing South and West Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean, in all media including rarely seen pieces exploring the concept of one’s roots and the sense of belonging.

According to the microsite launched for the occasion, intheheartofanothercountry.com, ‘In the Heart of Another Country’ explores the life paths of generations of diaspora communities that have converged in the UAE, or more specifically, Sharjah. Alongside part works that have never before been exhibited outside of their original context, the exhibition showcases new commissions, works and installations as well.
