DP World has continued to enhance accessibility to golf across the world by donating equipment and an impressive 10,000 golf balls to The Golf Foundation India.
The donation from the global logistics company, who are title sponsors of the DP World Tour, will support local initiatives across India, particularly benefiting the hundreds of aspiring golfers the Foundation works with.
To mark the occasion, a ceremony took place at the Indian Open venue, DLF Golf and Country Club, with a group of teenagers in attendance invited by The Golf Foundation, as well as a surprise visit from DP World Tour player Rahil Gangjee.
Following the ceremony, the youngsters, who had travelled from Jandiali Village in Punjab were treated to an interactive golf clinic with Pro Golfer Aman Raj where they were given advice and tips on how to improve their game.
The Golf Foundation India works with talented young golfers to help support and nurture the future of Indian Golf. The equipment provided also included golf clubs, which will make a big difference to the group from Punjab who currently use construction rods moulded into various clubs and ping pong balls to practice with.
The equipment provided will be available to anyone practicing in the village with the hope that one day a new champion will be inspired to follow in the footsteps of Indian golfers such as Shubhankar Sharma and compete on the DP World Tour.
The donation is part of DP World's innovative 'Second Life' Container initiative, which has amassed a remarkable collection of 280,000 golf balls over the past two years.
The Second Life Container’s mission is to collect and redistribute the balls to grassroots golf projects around the world.
Recipients of the redistributed golf balls have included the European Disabled Golf Association, Sadga - South African Disabled Golf Association, Golf Foundation India, Junior Golf Foundation Kenya, and the UAE-based all girls group Chicks with Sticks.
