With just four days, thousands of shiny new products and offers, we know it can be quite a task to get the best out of Gitex Shopper Spring. So we’ve compiled ten top tips on how to do the region’s biggest consumer IT and electronics event in style:

1. When looking for smartphones, check if there is a dual sim model available, which will be good if you’ve been carrying two phones. Many popular flagship devices come in dual sim varieties.

2. If you’re thinking of making a high value purchase, check what offers each retailer has with different credit cards. Many offer up to 12 months zero per cent interest, so check this before giving your card.

3. Use the retailer booklets as a guide but always check at the stand for pricing. Gitex Shopper is a competitive environment and prices and offers may change constantly.

4. If you think waiting until the last minute is the best strategy to get the best prices, think again. The stocks may not be available in the colour or capacity you want on day four.

5. Social media is a great place to get updated on what’s going on at the event, such as product offers and bundles or traffic updates. It is also a great way to send queries to individual retailers.

6. Take advantage of the metro. Parking can be difficult and expensive. The RTA has extended the hours of the metro keeping in mind the extra traffic expected at DWTC.

7. Check in detail for deals advertised. For example, most retailers will be selling the same model of DSLR cameras but bundling different lenses. The prices will therefore vary on what lenses are bundled.

8. There are many intangible benefits like extended warranty that retailers offer and at the time these may be bundled for free. Make sure to ask when purchasing.

9. If you are coming with small children, please make sure you keep an eye on them at all times. Gitex Shopper can get very crowded and it is possible for them to get lost.

10. There are many transitions happening across major brands in their TV line-up so if you are looking for a new TV for the World Cup, you may be able to get a good deal on the models that are being discontinued.
