Parking is a major problem in Dubai, especially in residential areas where commercial vehicles are parked and more so when they are abandoned.
These vehicles not only take up parking spaces but also pose a threat, especially during the winters as they become cozy homes for stray cats who may decide to pounce on people trying to get to their cars parked adjacent to these abandoned vehicles. Additionally, they also become garbage bins for many lazy passerbys who don’t want to walk another ten steps to the actual bins meant for the purpose. Garbage is not removed from these vehicles making it unhygienic and smelly.
I have spotted many unsightly vehicles — both private and commercial — in parking lots in Dubai International City that have been abandoned and have not been moved from their spaces for months now. Many are not even in useable condition. Some are so old that their tyres have totally decomposed and the bodies have rusted, which makes it dangerous to stand or park next to them in case they start to fall apart.
I am sure there will be many more places where abandoned vehicles can be found, for example in mall parkings. I hope that the authorities look into the matter and take proper action to remove such vehicles as soon as possible.
