Dubai Municipality launched a ‘Grow your own food’ campaign to teach and encourage residents to try home farming. According to the page A5 report, ‘Grow your Food event plants a novel idea’, published in the Nation section of Gulf News on October 15, workshops will be held every Saturday through October and November to learn how to grow fruits and vegetables.
Gulf News asked readers online: Do you grow any fruits or vegetables at home? Three quarters of poll respondents said they don’t.
The campaign tells residents that whether they have an apartment or a villa, home farming is possible and can be cost-effective. Without proper knowledge, one might not know where to begin a garden. Where best to get soil, where in your home should you place your plants, how to effectively plant, what can grow together – the list of questions could be long for someone who hasn’t tried it before. Workshops will teach residents the basics to get started.
