Believe in yourself
We get appointed at our workplace based on our qualifications and confidence at the time of our interview. After that our hard work, attitude, punctuality and performance along with our presence of mind are the main ingredients that help us to move up the ladder of success. People who lack these qualities try to play politics to get promotions, but this is surely temporary as managers who like politics are not born executives and their position itself is not permanent. So, just believe in yourself. You will surely be rewarded in a longer period of time and you will enjoy your success with a clear conscience.

Don’t participate
I have found these kinds of activities in my workplace, but I don’t care and do my job honestly because the superiors want these things. The rest of the staff get discriminated against by those managers.

Performance speaks
The culture has to be driven from the top down. Today we see a lot of senior executives like employed CEOs and COOs doing this and thus the culture percolates down. The people who are encouraging and practicing office politics have to know that it will not help them in the long run. Performance always speaks.

Those people benefit
Those who praise their superior in their face, are ready to do any work and remain the personal servant often get promotions and fringe benefits.

Responsibility and discipline
If we are going to put politics in our workplace, which is practiced in most companies, all opportunities for those who deserve the promotions are decreased. In an organisation we can’t please everyone. You will see bad mentalities and people coming and going. You name it, you will witness it at some point.
Only a few will demand and ask what is going on. Performance, attitude, quality, punctuality, responsibility and discipline is what you need. For superiors and heads, these traits can make everything possible. Is it right to do favours in exchange of personal interests? Everything should be conducted accordingly, as it always happens. One’s mistakes will result in everyone and everything being unsuccessful.

Laws needed
I think labour laws should be implemented in order to ensure that employees are promoted based on calibre, skills, hard work and all other factors which are necessary. I wish there was a solution for this.

Depends on managers
It depends on the type of managers and supervisors we are working under. Also on the type of people working in the company.

Takes longer, but worth it
Whatever we are getting under the table will not be permanent. There will be good results for sincere efforts even though it takes a longer time to succeed.

Fact of life
This is definitely happening. It’s a clear fact of the workplace today. This is what I am experiencing now.

Most deserve the promotion
To my knowledge, most of the professionally managed companies with top executives who can select the people for promotion will certainly look into their merits, qualifications and their talents. On the other hand, there is also selection and promotion going on, but I think the percentage frequency is less. Since Dubai is on the map as a major place for employment, certainly they will promote the deserving people with merits.

How you use your brain
I believe that qualifications are important in certain roles. In sales, customer service or operations we need to go by qualifications. It’s about how well you can use your brain, you will be able to climb the ladder. Whereas in some roles require qualifications like engineering and many more, where you are able to climb the ladder as per your competence and knowhow.
