With the passing of Cuba’s former President Fidel Castro on Friday, the world has reacted with mixed feelings. He was a strict leader, who implemented a communist government in the country and ruled Cuba for 47 years.
Gulf News asked readers: How do you most remember Fidel Castro? Half of poll respondents remember him as a revolutionary and two out of 10 respondents said they remember him as a dictator.
For some, he stood up to imperialism, exploitation, he was a comrade and a symbol for modern world history. But, for many others he was a ruthless leader who created deeper unrest in the international community.
