Too much Trump
These past few weeks, we have seen extensive editorial coverage on US Republican nominee Donald Trump, which I find sickening (‘Why Trump should reveal his tax returns’, Gulf News, August 18). I usually enjoy reading The Views section, but more than 50 per cent of it comprises vitriolic reports of Trump. Although he deserves it, aren’t there any other countries or topics that can be covered and discussed? Some of them could be positive or refreshing for a reader. The US is not the only country. They will have the elections, but most people in the UAE do not vote, so what’s the point of going on and on about it?

Thank you for the feedback. Trump has dominated the news lately for a number of reasons. He remains part of one of the biggest international stories, the US presidential election, and a quick scan of major international newspapers shows a similar approach when it comes to covering the latest developments associated with this particular election. We also strive to cover different angles to the story; so while you may get a daily dose of US politics, trust that we try very hard to publish different and new takes on what is happening or being said. We also dissect and analyse news and publish opinions on other topics and regions. That’s part of our mission at The Views.
