Three finalists have been chosen as part of Yasalam’s Emerging Talent Competition. Hasan Malik, Rashed Al Nuami and Jamil Jabbour will compete for a chance to perform at the free music festival Beats on the Beach later this month, sharing a bill with Sean Paul and Nancy Ajram. They will battle it out a final time on November 24 at the corniche, where the concerts will be held. The winner will also walk away with a year-long residency at The Village stage in du Arena, the most popular musical venue in the capital city.

Of the three contestants, Malik has a rich, soulful voice, while Al Nuaimi uses his vibrato in an opera-pop style. Jabbour has a flair for the blues and acoustic covers.

“The final showdown will be one to watch. Each of the three finalist’s artistic voice is quite distinctive from the others. It will definitely be a tough decision. Above all these finalists are all winners and serve as an inspiration for all aspiring musicians,” said Bragin.

The shortlisted contestants were chosen out of an initial ten by Olly Wood, one half of electronic duo Hollaphonic, Reiner Erlings, a producer and orchestral composer, Bill Bragin, the executive artistic director at the Arts Centre at New York University Abu Dhabi and Rania Hamadeh, the VP of marketing and promotions at Universal Music MENA.

S.O.S. (Secrecy over Supremacy) were last year’s winners.
