What prompted you to launch a home service?
The idea is to reach out to eligible patients requiring continuum care in their homes and also encourage an optimum utilisation of hospital beds in DHCC.
Who is eligible?
The patient should have a medical file at one of our 125 facilities in DHCC. The service is available to them as an adjunct to their care, not as an independent facility. The physician treating the patient is authorised to approve the service based on a thorough assessment.
Any exclusions?
Yes – pregnant women and patients with a history of drug or alcohol abuse.
What kind of services are covered?
Our initial focus is on registered nurses. The policy will also apply to general practitioners, physicians, physiotherapists, nutritionists, dieticians, psychologists, speech and occupational therapists.
What is the frequency of the service?
It depends on the case and will be decided by the physician.
How much does it cost?
Again, this will depend on the hospital/clinic and nature of service. As the regulator, we only make sure that the quality of services is not jeopardised in any way and that the patients’ rights and responsibilities are met by licensed healthcare providers.
