No respite

I sincerely request Gulf News to take up my issue with Emirates Islamic Bank (EIB) and to help me clear it.

My credit card’s outstanding balance is Dh5,500.13 and my due date for the next payment is March 9, 2014. They have wrongly mentioned my minimum payable amount as Dh4,218.59. The total minimum amount payable should be only Dh669.61 based on my calculations, but as mentioned, they are asking me to pay much more.

When I inquired with the bank’s customer care representative, he agreed that for unknown reasons, my card was blocked and it was showing the wrong amount. He also registered a complaint to unblock my card and to correct the card statement.

Later, I received an SMS from the bank stating both the issues were resolved. However, when I checked my online statement, nothing was changed and the minimum amount remains the same as mentioned above.

So once again, I checked with the bank’s customer care. The representative was still confused and tried to convince me that the payable amount was valid. When I rejected this offer, he told me to again register a complaint and said some other team member would follow up and try to resolve the issue.
