Dubai: Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health has announced the detection of 693 confirmed new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), taking the overall number of infected people in the country to 95,106. This makes it the second highest in the GCC after Saudi Arabia which has 183,000 confirmed cases.

According to a statement issued today (Monday), a total of 1,468 people have recovered fully from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 80,170.

The Ministry also announced 3 new deaths aged 59, 63 and 81 years old, which pushes the country’s death toll up to 113.

Also during the past 24 hours, nine more people were admitted to the ICU due to health complications resulting from being infected with the virus, bringing the total number of cases receiving medical attention in intensive care to 203.

The ministry noted that the new cases were diagnosed through the emergency departments and different health centers. The infection was transmitted to them from people who had been previously infected.

The latest cases have been completely isolated in various medical facilities in the country and are receiving the necessary health care according to the health status of each case.

The ministry affirmed that the coronavirus epidemic is gradually declining in Qatar due to the precautions and preventive measures implemented by the state and the commitment by members of the community, which led to the recent decrease in the number of infections.
