Dubai: A saleswoman has been accused of stealing four bras worth Dh200 from a garment store where she worked at a shopping mall.

The 29-year-old Filipina vendor, F.A., was said to have hidden the bras in a nylon bag that she forgot behind when she left for her house after work in August.

F.A. called up her colleague at work to inform her that she would pick up the bag later, according to records, before the colleague discovered that the bag contained stolen bras.

The suspect failed to show up before the Dubai Court of First Instance where she was scheduled to enter her plea on Sunday.

The prosecutors said the suspect abused her work at the garment store and stole four bras.

A Syrian employee from the company that operates the shop claimed to prosecutors that the colleague informed him about the heist.

“She took the bras and hid them in a bag. When she finished her shift that day, she left work but forgot to take the bag with her. She called up her colleague later and told her to keep the bag because she had forgotten some items in it. Upon checking the contents of the bag, the colleague discovered that four new bras were hidden inside … the barcodes were not removed. When F.A. came to pick up her bag, we confronted her … she handed us a written confession,” the employee testified to prosecutors.

Presiding judge Fahd Al Shamsi adjourned the case until the suspect is legally notified about the upcoming hearing on November 6.
