Dubai: A 50-year-old woman told a court on Wednesday that she worked as a prostitute to earn a living after sneaking into Dubai via the Omani border.
Officers arrested the Chinese woman J.F. on March 31, 2013, with a group of illegal residents, the second time she was arrested in three years.
According to prosecution records, J.F. was arrested and deported in 2011 for working as a prostitute.
Prosecutors charged her with allowing men to have sex with her for money.
Appearing before presiding judge Maher Salama Al Mahdi at the Dubai Court of First Instance, J.F. admitted her guilt, but pleaded for mercy saying she wanted to return to her home country.
A policewoman told prosecutors that the accused confessed to her that she was earlier deported from the UAE after she was caught working in a brothel in 2011. “Later, she decided to return to Dubai and paid Dh15,000 to a countrywoman and a Omani man to smuggle her into Dubai,” the policewoman said. The accused claimed that she entered the UAE illegally more than two years ago.”
A verdict is expected on May 14.
