Ras Al Khaimah: Having lots of friends on social media platforms is a norm in today’s electronic world.
But a Ras Al Khaimah man is having none of it when it comes to his wife — especially male friends.
On Wednesday, a 25-year-old Pakistani woman was before the Misdemeanour Court in Ras Al Khaimah on charges of having illicit relationships.
She denied any wrongdoing and the charges have yet to be tested in the court at a later date after the hearing was adjourned.
The woman was charged after her 95-year-old Emirati husband accused her of chatting with men via BlackBerry Messenger.
The elderly man alleges that his wife deceived him during their marriage and he filed charges against his wife alleging that she had betrayed him. He based his allegations on text messages that his son allegedly saw on her mobile phone.
He had also alleged that he had noticed a change in his wife’s behaviour, which led him to closely watch her, then he informed his son who in turn searched the mobile phone of the woman to find out that the woman had added names of men via Blackberry.
The elderly man alleges that his wife exchanged with them unacceptable chats not becoming of a married woman.
