If you are the owner of a 13-inch MacBook Pro (non Touch Bar), you may need to give your laptop back – at least for the while. Fears of expanding batteries in this model have prompted the global chain to issue a statement of recall.

The good news? It’s not a safety issue and your batteries will be replaced at no cost – other than inconvenience.

Affected units were manufactured between October 2016 and October 2017 and eligibility is determined by the product serial number, says Apple on its website.

So how do you check if your Mac needs to head back to the shop? Go to the apple.com/support and head to the page on battery replacement. Note your computer’s serial number in the space provided and voila, you’ve got your answer.
