Dubai: Summer sees the temporary exodus of many UAE residents, who choose to spend the hottest months of the year in cooler climes.

But it’s also the time of year that many expats choose to make their move back to their countries of origin, creating vacancies across several industries. This means it’s not a bad time to go job hunting.

If you’re on the lookout for a job, you can find some of the hottest job postings in the UAE today by checking out the following avenues:

LinkedIn

It’s always a good idea to keep your LinkedIn profile up to date. New jobs are listed on the site regularly, and it’s simple to refine your search to specific areas of the UAE.

Emirates

Whether it’s flying or maintaining a plane, being part of cabin crew, in-flight catering or being involved in one of the myriad other roles that keeps an airline going, you may just have the skills and experience for one of the jobs advertised by Emirates on their jobs portal

10,000+ vacancies

There were 32,000 job vacancies in the region in the first quarter of 2017, following a slump the year before, of which 10,149 were posted by UAE-based organisations, according to Bayt.com.

Many of those jobs advertised are for candidates with qualifications and/or experience in sales and marketing, engineering and construction, finance and accounting, information and technology and communications.

Google jobs

Google is another place where you can have a razor-sharp focus for your job hunt, as it allows you to search LinkedIn, Monster, Facebook, and more job sites — all at once. The tech giant has now extended its Google for Jobs platform to all developers and site owners. The platform, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, lists new features, such as: prominent listings for companies that include job details, logos, ratings and reviews; filters job seekers can use to narrow searches by job location, title and other categories; and greater chances for job seekers to interact with employers' postings and click on their sites. Employers and site owners can track their listings and fix problems, too.

Cyber security

As technology is changing the nature of jobs, job postings from companies looking for techies has never been better. If you’re someone who knows a thing or two about cyber security, then capitalize on it.

This skill set is badly needed by financial institutions, banks, merchants, evens governments. As a career, cyber security has been around for many years, but the need these kind of professionals has been amplified by the rise of the digital economy, said Michael Fraccaro, chief human resources officer at Mastercard who receives around 250,000 jobs applications from around the world every year.

App developers, network professionals

Many UAE companies are increasingly hiring IT professionals not only to help them protect data but also build mobile applications for iPhone, Samsung and other Android platforms.

It’s no longer enough to have an IT degree: Employers are looking for someone who can demonstrate the ability to manage networks, make thing easier for end-users by launching apps, according to a study released by GulfTalent early this month (June 13).

Demand for Android and iOS app developers spiked from nearly zero in 2012 to 20 per cent in 2017 based on talent searches online, while that of information security professionals has surged over a five-year period from just 4 per cent of all talent searches in 2012;

Job postings cyber security, on the other hand, has risen to 9 per cent in 2017; while that of network engineers saw a similar trend, from 6 per cent of searches to 13 per cent.

These were the companies hiring in the first quarter of 2017.
