Dubai: Education fees in schools based in Deira are the most budget-friendly in Dubai, while those in Nad Al Sheba are the costliest.

This is according to the data published on Edarabia.com, which looked at the cost of education among private institutions across the emirate.

The cost of education, which can be a huge burden for low-income families, is getting pricier every year and parents in the emirate today shell out an average of Dh2,479 to Dh130,000 annually just to send one child to school.

On average, however, more than half (57.5 per cent) of students in Dubai pay no more than Dh20,000 a year on education, according to the analysis.

Education fees in the UAE are still one of the costliest in the world, with families spending nearly half a million dirhams on a lifetime of school fees for one child.

In HSBC’s study, it was found that parents spend Dh365,025 on child’s education, from primary through to university.

When looking for a new education provider, parents would therefore do well to consider the location, as it plays a huge part in the level of fees. Other factors that can also make a school expensive is the inspection rating received from the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), as well as the type of curriculum it offers.

The latest data showed that the 17 schools in Deira offered the lowest school fees, followed by those in Karama and Al Qusais/Muhaisna areas, which have 11 and 38 schools, respectively.

Parents in Bur Dubai and Discovery Gardens/Jebel Ali are also not paying as much as those in other communities.

Rounding up the top ten locations for lowest school fees in Dubai are Al Quoz, Mirdif/Al Rashidiya, Jumeirah, DIP/Green Community and Dubai Silicon Oasis/Academic City.

The most expensive schools are located in Nad Al Sheba, Jumeirah Village Circle, Arabian Ranches, Dubai Sports city and Al Sufouh.

The 17 schools in Al Barsha are also pricier than in many other locations, as well as those in Umm Suqeim and Springs/Meadows/Greens.
