Dubai: Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), has confirmed that the authority has made significant progress on the supply, extension and commissioning of 25km of major water transmission pipelines across Dubai.

The project boosts Dewa’s strategy to meet customer expectations by delivering the highest standards of availability, reliability and efficiency in utility services.

“We strive to increase productivity and operational efficiencies, and increase the flow of water to meet the rapid growth in demand for water, in several parts of Dubai, and anticipate emergencies. The project includes the extension of Glass-Reinforced Epoxy main water pipelines, and remote control and monitoring systems,” said Al Tayer.

Approximately, 22km has been implemented to date, 88 per cent of the project, which is worth a total of Dh170 million.

“The project includes 17 sites to connect the main transmission pipelines to increase water flow, ensure the continuity of water access, and raise the pressure in the network to support existing and future projects in those areas, thereby contributing to the efficiency of the network,” Al Tayer continued.

The project is expected to be completed by December this year.
