Dubai: Residents in Ras Al Khaimah were in for a surprise on Sunday, with heavy rainfall seen in the emirate.

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) told Gulf News that the rain continued for almost one hour.

Videos of the downpour were quickly posted on social media, showing areas such as Wadi Al Ghail, which is located between Sharjah and Fujairah.

“It rained heavily in some areas of Ras Al Khaimah, but after one hour, the clouds started to dissipate,” said the weather forecaster at the NCMS. Other affected areas included the wadis at Raqia and Al Mawrad.

The forecaster said that residents can continue to expect more rainfall on Monday across the northern parts of the Arabian coast, which is concentrated near Ras Al Khaimah and the south of the Sharjah emirate.

The NCMS also forecast mild weather in general in the next two days, and fair to partly cloudy over some areas, “with a probability of convective clouds by afternoon over the eastern and northern areas, which might be associated with rainfall.”

“Slight to moderate winds, which may pick up at times. Humidity will increase during the night and early morning over some internal areas, with a probability of mist and fog forming,” accoding to NCMS.
