I would like to raise an issue that has been bothering me. Maybe it is a non-issue for others or no one is seeing it from my perspective. A few days ago, I was out for dinner on Electra Street in Abu Dhabi. When I walked out of the restaurant after finishing my meal I noticed something weird across the street from where I was standing.
I decided to take a closer look. To my amazement, I noticed that quite a big portion of the sidewalk was filled with bits and pieces of leftover bread. I was the only person there that couldn’t understand such a scene. My friends, who weren’t bothered by it, simply said it’s for the birds.
For the birds? Large pieces of bread were lying on the floor; some of which looked like it had been stepped on.
This is the food we eat. No matter what the cause is, we should always respect food in whatever form it is.
There are other ways of feeding the birds. This seems to have been going on for quite some time, as is evident in the photograph. I hope this creates more awareness amongst people.
