Abu Dhabi: As the UAE braces for rain in the days ahead, the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City has said that residents can contact the authorities through the 0569939930 WhatsApp number to report any emergencies.

They can also email the municipality at 993@adm.abudhabi.ae to report street-side ponds, broken trees, collapsed walls and debris on the roads, the municipality announced in a statement sent on Wednesday. At the same time, the 993 municipal hotline will also continue to receive reports.

A round-the-clock operations room will continue to field all reports and assign teams to assist with any reported emergencies. A group of 75 water tanks, 26 pumps, and 15 six-wheel drive vehicles have also been set aside for emergency response operations in Abu Dhabi.

The preparations are part of the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities’ Rain Emergency Response Plan, which aims to provide effective aid and assistance during the rainy season.

In addition to emergency response preparations, the municipality has also conducted site surveys to ensure that stormwater drainages are functioning efficiently. A plan has been devised to provide support through pumps and water tankers to areas where rainwater networks are not available, and authorities have also identified areas where there could be a risk of water accumulation.
