I work in a company in Dubai. Can you clarify the law regarding leave? Every worker is entitled to 30 days leave for 12 months of work where the worker’s period of service is more than a year. If I avail of the 30-day annual leave, my next annual leave is due only after the completion of a further 12 months. Am I eligible for my second annual leave on the 24th month of continuous service?
As per Article No 75 of the Federal Labour Law No 8 of 1980, a worker who completes 12 months of continuous work shall be entitled to 30 days of leave starting from the first of the 13th month. As for the second year, the leave of such a worker shall start from the beginning of 12th month, meaning the worker works in the second year for 11 months only and then he shall be granted annual leave.
