Visa cancellation while abroad

SUBJECT
Employment

I worked in a company for more than two years. Currently, I am on my annual leave for one month abroad. However, due to my wife’s illness I asked my company to extend my leave for three months or otherwise to cancel my visa, but the company refused and told me that I should return to the UAE and the visa may be cancelled and then I can return to my home country. Is the company entitled, as per the law, to cancel my visa while I am abroad? In case of cancellation this way, am I entitled to return to UAE again after one year to work with a new sponsor? Please advise me and specify how I can cancel my visa.

The company may cancel the questioner’s visa if the questioner sends his passport and cancellation request to the company. The company shall provide the Ministry of Labour with a letter issued by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs stating that the questioner is abroad, this will be attached to the cancellation request. As for the second question the questioner may enter UAE again upon obtaining a new work permit from another sponsor.
