A reader from Dubai asks: I worked for a Dubai furniture company for 30 days and according to the appointment letter my salary was Dh5,000 but when I collected my wages they gave me Dh3,500. I asked the company's management about the matter but they are not listening to me. Kindly give a suggestion. This is a question about the law and policy and not about the salary.

As we understand it you did not sign a labour contract. Thus, you do not yet have a labour relationship with your employer as there are no formal requirements for labour contracts from UAE Labour Ministry. You can file a complaint with the Ministry of Labour to force your employer to pay what he promised.
