I came to Dubai on an employment visa on October 7 this year. However, I did not like the work conditions and told the company to cancel my visa. As I did not complete the medical tests, the visa was not stamped on my passport. My employer asked me for Dh5,000 to cancel my visa. I signed the cancellation papers and he called me at the same day and informed me that the visa had been cancelled. However, he is still holding my passport. How many days can I stay here after the cancellation of the visa? Also shall I get a one-year ban? Is it possible to come on an employment visa after exiting the country? Note that I did not work in my company. Instead, I just visited the office for one day.

The questioner may stay in the country for 30 days after the cancellation, and a one-year ban might be imposed as per the sponsor’s request on the basis that the questioner has not started work at the company and may have caused a loss to the sponsor due to the damages incurred by the said sponsor. Therefore, in the event of a ban being imposed on the questioner, the questioner may not enter the country on an employment visa until after the lapse of the ban.
