Dubai: An Emirati strongman pulled the world’s largest mobile hospital of the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (DCAS) during a Flag Day celebration on Thursday.

Hussain Khalil, nicknamed Shamshoon of UAE, along with his team of strongmen, demonstrated some of the toughest challenges as part of the UAE Flag celebrations organised by the corporation last week.

Shamshoon, with ambitions to break a world record by pulling a 12 tonne truck with his hair, pulled the record-breaking mobile hospital of DCAS with his chest on November 3 and also lay down on broken glass as 700kg of weights were placed on top of him.

DCAS reported that Shamshoon’s team also split big stones on his chest in addition to Shamshoon bending metal plates in front of the audience.

The largest mobile hospital had earned a Guinness World Record in 2011, according to DCAS, and is able to accommodate more than 44 patients at a time.

The event saw officials and employees from DCAS attend the event, which also included a flag hoisting ceremony on a 10 metre tall flagpole.

A fleet of ambulance vehicles also took to the streets for a parade. DCAS said the celebration came in response to a call made by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to have a nation-wide campaign celebrating the occasion.

The annual celebration of Flag Day, which coincides with the anniversary of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s assumption of office as the leader of the country, is marked with the flag being hoisted across all government departments and buildings across the emirate.
