Dubai: The UAE's third earth-imaging satellite, KhalifaSat, will be completely built in Dubai at the country's first satellite manufacturing facility in Al Khawaneej, Emirates Institute for Advanced Science and Technology (EIAST) has announced.

The facility is currently under construction near the EIAST headquarters in Khawaneej and is expected to be ready by early next year.

EIAST currently operates two earth-imaging satellites, DubaiSat One and DubaiSat Two that were jointly developed by EIAST and a South Korean firm.

A team of Emirati engineers are currently working on KhalifaSat and the designs of the UAE's most sophisticated satellite is completely ready, said officials.

Production work of the satellite will shifted to Dubai once the new facility is ready.
