DUBAI: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) leads the world with the largest number of Joint Commission International (JCI)-accredited organisations, according to the Dubai Health Authority (DHA).
JCI is an organisation which works to improve patient safety and quality of health care in the international community by offering education, publications, advisory services, and international accreditation and certification.
It is the oldest and largest standards and accrediting body in health care in the United States that evaluates more than 20,000 organisations and inspires them to excel in providing safe and effective care.
“The UAE has 145 JCI-accredited health organisations — the highest among 67 countries which implement rigorous JCI standards of care and provide solutions for achieving peak performance in health care,” said Dr Manal Taryam, CEO of Primary Healthcare Centres at the DHA.
Ten DHA primary health-care centres received international accreditation from the JCI proving once again the authority’s commitment to providing first-class medical services that are at par with international standards, she said.
The centres gained the accreditation after meeting the rigorous standards of the JCI, she added.
She affirmed that the accreditation is not a goal but an indicator to measure the performance of the centres, the quality of services they provide and customer satisfaction.
