Abu Dhabi: The UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has confronted humanitarian challenges by adopting more development initiatives and projects that help improve the quality of life for the needy and people affected by disasters.

The statement on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day was made by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of Emirates Red Crescent.

Shaikh Hamdan said that current regional crises and conflicts pose a massive challenge for humanitarian organisations and authorities. He said that a strong stand and great efforts are necessary for overcoming this challenge in order to provide a better life for those impacted in areas suffering from these events.

Shaikh Hamdan said that the UAE plays a pivotal role in bolstering fields of global humanitarian work, transforming it from an immediate response to a disaster into sustainable programmes and projects that meet the requirements of needy communities.
