Abu Dhabi: Two Emiratis have raised the UAE flag in Antarctica, as part of a 10-day international expedition which explored renewable and alternative energy sources around the world.

Saeed Mohammad Al Nuaimi and Ameera Al Hammadi also put up photographs of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Al Nuaimi said that the trip aimed to raise awareness on environmental issues and the effects of global warming, as well as identify the level of damage caused by increasing water levels in the oceans, and seek renewable and alternative energy solutions.
