Abu Dhabi: The UAE has announced that it ended the service of the UAE’s non-resident ambassador to North Korea and the Pyongyang’s non-resident ambassador to the UAE.

The UAE also announced additional measures including the suspension of issuing entry permits for North Koreans as well as licences for North Korean companies.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said on Thursday that these steps have been taken as a responsible member of the international community to strengthen the international resolve and ensure the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and missile programme that threaten international peace and security.

The ministry also said that the UAE is looking forward to concerted efforts of the international community in countering North Korea’s nuclear and missile programme, which threatens the international security and stability.

The ministry added that the UAE has put in place necessary executive mechanisms in coordination with relevant authorities to implement the UN’s recent resolutions in relation to North Korea and its nuclear programme including the resolution No. 2371 and 2375.

The ministry stressed that the UAE, as an active and responsible member of the international community, will play its full role within the international legitimacy to implement the international community’s resolve.
