Dubai: Though Bablu the character may have fallen into his lap due to his good looks – his acting skills are yet to be tested – Tiger Shroff says he never set out to be an actor.

“Honestly, as a child, the only reason I went to school was to play sports. I’ve always been into martial arts, gymnastics, football,” Shroff, the star lead of the Bollywood film Heropanti, told tabloid! on Thursday at a press meet.

“I love dancing too. But after I graduated film offers started coming my way. I knew I wasn’t academically qualified to do anything in particular and in India there’s not much scope for sports apart from cricket and I’m a footballer. In that way I’m blessed to be in the industry. I thought how can I use my talent in the film industry? I am physically gifted. What if I use my dancing? I have good action skills. What if I get a role that lets me really express myself? Heropanti was one of the offers I’d received and after Sabbir [Khan, the director] Sir met me, got to know me, he moulded the character according to my plus points”.

Shroff was visiting Dubai for the first time with co-star Kriti Sanon and Heropanti director Sabbir Khan to promote the film, which releases on May 22 in the UAE. Shroff and Sanon will make an appearance  tonight (Thursday night) at Pulse, Movenpick Hotel Bur Dubai around midnight.
