Abu Dhabi: The Health Authority-Abu Dhabi (HAAD) has announced three new cases of Mers-Coronavirus. The new asymptomatic cases were identified following screenings for those who had come into contact with affected people.
From previous asymptomatic cases in the UAE, people tend to shake off the virus themselves within 10-14 days, but are kept in isolation in hospital during this time.
The authority confirmed the current situation was not a public health concern and that it is coordinating with the Ministry of Health and other authorities in the country, and has taken all necessary measures as per international standards and recommendations from the World Health Organisation (WHO).
The authority stressed the need to follow information released about the illness by the Ministry of Health and health authorities. Cases of Mers Cov have been reported by the WHO from 2012.
The ministry said the WHO confirmed the situation does not require a travel ban to any country in the world, screenings at different ports, or any restrictions on trade.
The Ministry confirmed that it is monitoring the situation closely to ensure the health and safety of everyone. The WHO is working closely with all government and health authorities to understand the risks of this virus and how it is spread between people.
