Ras Al Khaimah: A brother and a sister who had been hospitalised following a car crash in Ras Al Khaimah last week have succumbed to injuries in hospital, police said. One of the four siblings who were in the car died soon after the crash while another is in a Dubai hospital with serious injuries.

The accident involving members of an Emirati family happened on September 10 on Al Saadi-Tawian Road in Ras Al Khaimah.

According to police, the 24-year-old brother, who was driving the family car, lost control of the vehicle while overtaking a truck on a two-way road. He changed lanes to overtake the truck, but realised that a vehicle was approaching from the opposite direction. In an attempt to return to his lane, he collided with the truck.

Colonel Ali Saeed Elkum, Director of Traffic and Patrol Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said the 26-year-old woman declared dead at the scene had been in the front seat while the two sisters who were hospitalised with serious injuries were in the back seat.

Police patrols and paramedics had responded to the accident after the operations room received a call.
