Dubai: The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, TRA, has hosted a FEDnet workshop in Dubai. A large number of representatives from federal ministries and local government departments were present at the workshop, having heavily contributed to the development of the project.

The workshop was a result of the successful collaborative approaches and cooperative efforts between the TRA, national and federal entities over the past few months. TRA organised the interactive workshop with the aim of reviewing diverse viewpoints and sharing the FEDnet preliminary results, as the project is geared to be ready for service in February 2015.

The workshop agenda included introducing and giving an overview on FEDnet, a technical review of the current status of the programme and latest developments, as well as sharing views on the future steps to be taken upon fully adopting the project.

Hamad Obaid Al Mansouri, Director-General of m-Goverment at TRA, said, “The idea of hosting this workshop commenced from a desire to showcase the project’s preliminary initiatives, keeping in mind the framework of shifting towards a smart government.”

“We are delighted to be in the presence of a large number of representatives from national and federal entities. This event has given us the opportunity to share with them the next steps involved in the completion of this national campaign, which has been assigned to a specialised technical committee, comprised of several government entities.”

Represented by the TRA, m-Goverment showcased the FEDnet project during GITEX Technology Week 2014, as part of the nation’s efforts towards shifting into a smart government.
