Dubai: Uniqueness or being distinguished in any profession always pays off and especially in the UAE for the 60 per cent of the 250 Emirati winners of the Tamaiaz and Falak Tayyeb programmes.

Out of the total participants in the initiative, 150 were hired in the private sector according to the organisers. They said the award, which was established five years ago by Al Mawarid Finance, has contributed to the national Emiratisation process. In its last session in 2012, the government announced 2013 as the year of Emiratisation.

The Tamaiaz and Falak Tayyeb award, which translates into ‘Be distinguished and your dreams will be fulfilled’, has exclusively targeted Emirati university finalists and fresh graduates in 2013. The programme was launched on Monday to encourage UAE youth and support them in getting employment opportunities.

“Launching this initiative comes in line with our efforts to support the UAE gifted and innovative students and graduates; the universities’ management contribution is very important. The competing projects will be judged by specialised judges from different universities to come out with recommendations on how to benefit from the projects. This initiative shall help us to support the government’s efforts and enhance the Emiratisation process in the UAE,” said Misbah Al Naimi, CEO of Al Mawarid Finance and chairman of the board of trustees of Tamaiaz and Falak Tayyeb.

Since its inception in 2008 by Al Mawarid Finance and under the sponsorship of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, 2,700 students have participated in the award out of which 781 qualified to the finals and 250 won.

The award succeeded in increasing the Emiratisation of the private sector as it ensured that 100 per cent of its 250 winners have been employed; 60 per cent employed in the private sector and 40 per cent in the public sector.

The winning students were also provided with training and workshops to develop their skills and enhance their performance in order to get senior positions in the future.

Students participating in the award can showcase their work in seven categories regardless of their major. This includes marketing, communications and media, design, photography and film, leadership and management, accounting, banking and finance, society and the environment, science, technology and inventions and finally entrepreneurship.

In total, 35 winners, five from each category, will be granted a cash award depending on their rank along with a job in the private sector which will be offered by the companies sponsoring the award.
