Actor Tahir Raj Bhasin, who was seen playing the antagonist in the second instalment of Force, feels that the audience is now accepting negative characters.

Asked if he feels that the audiences are now accepting grey characters, Tahir said over the phone from Mumbai: “Yeah, definitely. People have come out feeling that anti-hero had this very strong justification of what he was doing and that was the joy of doing it because it is a challenge for an actor to convince an audience to hate you and the same time empathise with you.”

The 29-year-old actor says the genre of anti-heroes is being explored by the audience.

“I feel as an anti-hero is a genre that is being explored by the audience and the credit goes to what they are exposed to today,” he said.

Tahir made his acting debut with the 2014 film Mardaani, where he was lauded for his effortless portrayal of a negative character in the film.

“If you look at a lot of online series like Narcos or House of Cards ... people accept that you can have characters that are more or slightly grey but at the same time there is a relatability factor to them,” Tahir said.

The actor was seen sharing screen space with John Abraham and Sonakshi Sinha in the recently released Force 2.
