Maya Nasri and the extra kilos

We have been seeing more of Maya Nasri lately - 9kg more, to be exact

The Lebanese press was very surprised a few days ago to see Maya Nasri who was in Beirut to launch her new album Jayi el Waqt (Time Will Come). It seems the Lebanese artist - who had looked like a mannequin before she started singing and acting - had gained 9kg.

Maya explained that she put on all this weight while she was acting in Egypt.

Maya is still living in Egypt where she is working on her third movie and finishing the shooting of a TV programme.

She confessed that if she had to choose between singing, acting and hosting shows, she would prefer acting. She dreams of playing in the Lebanese cinema or theatre.

Even though she lives in Cairo for the time being, that "home is where the heart is", she said. "And my heart is in Lebanon with my family."

As for her new CD, launched a few days ago in Beirut and produced by Rotana, it contains eight songs. One of them that bears the same title as the album - Jayi el Waqt was written, composed and arranged by artist Marwan Khoury.

At the press conference, Nasri denied that she and Khoury are romantically involved.

Nasri just finished the shooting of the music video of Jayi el Waqt, directed by Ahmad Mehdi. It is set in an old castle and the filming lasted two days. The music video tells the story of a woman who chooses to stay alone, forgetting about the man she loves.

Abu Sultan wows Arab world with new CD

Saud Abu Sultan has launched a new album in several Arab cities. After launcing in Kuwait City Saud was off to Beirut to introduce Lebanon to Saud 2008. The CD, produced by Rotana, has nine songs in the Gulf and Lebanese dialects. He also sings a traditional Moroccan song.

Abu Sultan, who was one of the finalists of TV programme Superstar, said the album took a while to make because he wanted to finish his law studies before pursuing his career in entertainment.

In Lebanon, Abu Sultan filmed his music video directed by Adel Serhan. The video, shot in an elegant beach resort in Damour, tells the story of a man accused of betrayal by the love of his life.

Najwa Karam's new spectacle

Lebanese singer Najwa Karam finished the shooting of her music video entitled Am Bemzah Maak (I'm just kidding with you). The song bears the same name as Najwa's new album which will be released soon.

The song Am Bemzah Maak is written and composed by Imad Shamseddine. Its music video is directed by Fady Haddad. It is not the first time that Najwa has collaborates with Fady.

The video was shot in a studio in Beirut, where a huge set was built. In this video, the Lebanese singer appears with four different looks. She wears several colourful dresses signed by designers Zuhair Mrad and Bassam Nehmeh.

In one of the sequences, Najwa wears a princess's dress, playing the role of Scheherazade, the heroine of the one thousand and one nights.
