Frankfurt: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, visited the Sharjah pavilion at the 68th Frankfurt Book Fair on Thursday.
The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) is representing the emirate of Sharjah at the fair, which will run until October 23.
Shaikh Sultan was briefed by Ahmad Bin Rakkad Al Ameri, Chairman of Sharjah Book Authority, on publications being showcased by Sharjah authorities and institutions involved in the cultural and publishing sectors.
During his visit, Shaikh Sultan met with a number of chief editors and representatives of print and electronic Emirati newspapers and engaged in talks with them about several local and regional topics, most notably cultural issues.
Shaikh Sultan said Sharjah now is constructing special buildings to host various cultural, art and social exhibitions including the Sharjah International Book Faire which is extending over an area of 60,000 square metres.
He also toured various Gulf and Arab pavilions participating in the fair and received several gifts in recognition and appreciation of his support to publishing houses and intellectuals.
