Dubai: Shanas and F3 hogged the limelight with the top positions at the end of the third heat of the Dubai Traditional Rowing Race held at the Mina Seyahi waters of the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) on Friday.
With 46 boats in the running, the fleet was divided into two groups keeping in mind the safety of the participants. Owned by Oman’s Ministry of Sport, Shanas did well to win the first leg of the heat. Following in second place was ‘Muzahem’, owned by Shaikh Saqr Bin Saoud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi and skippered by Ahmad Mohammad Ahmadou, while Imran Hassan Al Muhairi-owned and skippered ‘Al Qartasi’ was placed third.
In the second leg, the Hamad Saeed Yabir-owned F3 went on to take the honours leaving the Ahmad Mohammad Ebrahim Al Marai owned and skippered ‘Dubai 1’ in second place, while Ahmad Ebrahim Rashid’s ‘Al Zahab’ was placed third.
Trophies were presented to the top three finishers of both legs by Huzaim Al Qamzi, Ceo, DIMC in the presence of Khalid Bin Dasmal, in-charge of traditional racing and Mohammad Al Marri, sports in-charge at DIMC.
