Abu Dhabi: The Arabian Gulf Super Cup has been moved from Bani Yas Stadium to the Mohammad Bin Zayed Stadium to meet supporter demand, according to a statement from the Pro League Committee.
Arabian Gulf League champions Al Ain were set to meet President’s Cup winners Al Nasr at the 9,570-capacity ground in the Al Shamkha area of Abu Dhabi from 7.40pm on Saturday, August 15. But the season-opener will now be played at the 42,056-capacity home of Al Jazira in Al Nahyan, closer to the centre of town. The date and time remain the same.
“The decision to transfer the game to the Mohammad Bin Zayed Stadium will allow a larger number of people to attend the opening game of the season between last year’s league and cup champions,” the statement said.
