Dubai: UAE FA Academy League champions du La Liga High Performance Centre Under-18s are off to Spain this weekend to play Atletico Madrid’s youth team.
This is their second trip to Spain following last year’s visit where they played Malaga, Granada, Cordoba and Real Betis.
Atletico scouts will be at the match on the lookout for talent.
The programme also includes two tours; one of Atletico’s ground, from which they will soon be moving, the Vicente Calderon Stadium, and the second of Real Madrid’s stadium, the Santiago Bernabeu.
This is the first of several trips, which are part of du La Liga HPC Team’s annual calendar. In August, the du La Liga Under-18s and newly added Under-16s will go to Spain for an intensive training camp to play matches against Granada, Cadiz, Sevilla, Real Betis and Malaga, where there will be more opportunities to be scouted.
“After an amazing performance in the UAE FA Academy League, the du La Liga HPC team is ready to take on the best La Liga youth teams in Spain,” said du La Liga coach and former Malaga interim and Saudi Arabia assistant Rafael Gil. “The players have been going from strength to strength, but the only way to test the full stretch of their skills is in matches against La Liga clubs, who are known as the best in the world.”
The du La Liga HPC team comprises top players from across the UAE, scouted through duFC, who have been training 4-days-per-week with top Uefa pro-level certified coaches over the past year at the du La Liga HPC dedicated ground at the Sevens Stadium in Dubai.
