Sharjah: Shadeep Silva, once UAE national team’s strike bowler, proved that he can still be a tricky customer.
He produced a five-wicket spell with his left-arm spin against Sealine Cricket Club to take Fly Emirates to an exciting two-wicket win in the One Stop Tourism 43rd Bukhatir Premier League organised by Sharjah Cricket Council.
UAE batsman Krishna Chandran scored his second consecutive unbeaten half-century in Fly Emirates’ second successive victory.
After hitting an unbeaten 76 to help defeat ANIB XI, Chandran cracked an unbeaten 54 against Sealine Club too.
Meanwhile, Sharjah Council’s 9th Al Dhaid Gold Cup semi-final ended with United Bank Limited (UBL) beating Sharjah Cricket Club through a ‘Super Over’ thriller.
After both the teams scored 261 runs each, Sharjah Club could score only five runs losing two wickets in the Super Over and UBL’s Syed Maqsood hit a boundary and reached the target in just four balls.
Silva’s five-wicket spell resulted in Sealine Club that batted first being bowled out for 162 runs in 35.5 overs despite Waseem Rana (43) and Dawood Ijaz (33) who putting on a 67-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
Chasing the total, Fly Emirates lost quick wickets but Chandran’s unbeaten 54 from 78 balls with five boundaries helped his team reach the target.
The Super Over thriller happened after UBL posted 261 for seven through Mohammad Boota’s knock of 107. Sharjah Club chased through in-form Anfal PM scoring 53 runs. UBL’s Mohammad Naveed took four wickets for 36 runs while Mujahid Amin took three wickets.
