More than 100 players from all over the UAE are participating in the fourth edition of the Al Wasl Tennis Open.

All seven age categories have received confirmed entries from some of the top players in the country, with the UAE's Omar Behroozian leading the charge in the men's open.

Joining the challenge for the title will be UAE youngster Mohammad Abdul Aziz Al Nuaimi and Tunisian Osama Jalal.

"We are pleased with the response this competition has generated this year," stated Zayed Abbas, manager of tennis at Al Wasl Club.

"What makes the competition even more engrossing this year is the mix of UAE and expatriate players," he added.

The tournament was formally announced last week by officials of the clubs in the presence of sponsors from Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), Al Rawabi and ETA Ascon Star.

Besides the men's open singles, there will be competitions for the boys' under-12, under-14 and under-18 and for girls' under-12 and under-18.

Janice Tillbrook, one of the top players in the UAE, will lead the challenge in the women's singles with former UAE No.1 Agnes Anwar seeking to make a comeback.

Matches are held every day from 5 pm onwards at the Al Wasl Club courts.

The finals are expected to be held on May 26.
